Mark Tomlinson has provided Private surgical consultations, procedures and surgery since his appointment as a Consultant on the Specialist Register commencing NHS Consultant practice at Lancaster & Kendal in 2005.
For Mark, private consultations offer the opportunity to provide a more personal and less time-pressured environment to patients, in quieter more refined environments than busy NHS clinics. Private surgery provides expert and experienced specialist Consultant surgeons and anaesthetists, in more restful and individually provided facilities.
Background
Tomlinson Surgical Ltd was incorporated in 2005, offering private Consultant surgical services to the North Lancashire & South Cumbria population, working at the local Nuffield Hospital in Lancaster. In 2010 The Nuffield Hospital was bought by the BMI group and named “BMI The Lancaster Hospital”, and services were maintained throughout this changeover and currently.
From 2013 Tomlinson Surgical expanded to provide services to the Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre community, working with Spire Fylde Coast Hospital. In addition to private surgical services, a limited volume of contracted NHS capacity has also been provided. Both aspects of the business have grown steadily since inception.
In 2016, further development opportunities arose, and a decision made to develop a more independent, patient focused private surgical service, with a supporting team of allied health professionals and administrative staff.
Our latest development
Mark Tomlinson aims to provide easier, faster and more direct access for both patients and GPs to the private surgical service, with enhanced customer service dealing with inquiries, appointments, confirmation of services, information and communication, availability of appointments and costs.
There is more opportunity to be able to really listen to you, the patient; to explore not only your symptoms, but also your individual personal, family or business considerations, and any anxieties or concerns that you may have. Private Consultations enable time for more discussion and information about the variety of potential treatment options available to you, and enabling you, the patient, to come to decisions about which option is best for you, personally, with guidance from an experienced professional Consultant. Consultations enable us to discuss test results, and what your chosen treatment plan will actually mean for you in terms of the logistics, timescales, actual procedure and recovery phases of your treatment.
